ABCs of Room 309
Attendance: It is essential that students keep good attendance in school to prepare for educational success!
Book Orders: Book orders will be sent home several times a year. This is a great resource for purchasing books inexpensively
Curriculum: Science, Math; Humanities, What We Need (WIN), Academy Class, Social Emotional Learning (SEL)
Dismissal: School ends at 3:00. Students will leave through the front door of the buidling.
Emergencies: Please make sure we have an emergency form with current contact information on file for students.
Field Trips: Classes will participate in field trips this year. Permission slips must be returned for students to attend.
Grading Scale: The following grading scale is used in middle school: grade: A=90-100, B=80-89, C=70-79, D=60-69, F=69& below.
Homework: We try to keep homework to a minimum. Assignments not completed in class will be finished at home.
Internet: Students will use the Internet to conduct research this year and participate in learning activities.
Journals: Students will write in a journal throughout the school year. Sometimes this will be an assigned activity other times this may be a reflection activity.
Kindness: Students will demonstrate kindness and respect each day. Remember the Golden Rule! Treat others as you wish to be treated!
Lunch: Recess/Lunch/Enrichment– 10:30-12:15 PM. A breakfast and lunch menu will be sent home monthly.
Math: Math instruction will be taught through Go Math supplemented with hands-on activities. Periodically projects will be done either as individuals or with a partner.
Newsletters: A school newsletter will be sent home monthly to keep parents informed of the learning activities, upcoming events, and student achievements.
Organization: Good organization is important to a student’s success! Periodically clean out lockers, binders and backpacks.
Planners: Students will be expected to write assignments, tests, and special notes in their planners. Parents/Guardians will need to look these over periodically to stay informed.
Quiet: Quiet hallway transitions and classrooms create an atmosphere that is conducive to learning. All students will be expected to respect learning time.
Reading: Reading instruction will be taught through novel studies and book clubs. This will challenge all readers and broaden their knowledge of literature.
Science: Science instruction will be taught through hands-on activities.
Tardies: Students should be in their homerooms by 8:00 AM. Arriving after this time causes students to lose instructional time.
Uniforms: Students uniform is khaki blue pants with a navy blue shirt. Sweaters and sweatshirts can be worn if navy blue, grey or white. Hoodies are not allowed.
Vocabulary: Vocabulary should be studied throughout each week. Students will also need to study prefixes, suffixes, or root words that are assigned weekly.
Water: Students may bring a water bottle to keep at his/her desk as long as it has a lid to prevent spills.
